OSP Engineer
Location: 6405 Dickens Pl, Ste A, Richmond, VA 23230
About the Role:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer with CAD experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing telecommunication infrastructure, including both aerial and underground systems. You will use CAD software to create network layouts and oversee the installation and troubleshooting of cables, conduits, and fiber optic equipment. This position requires coordination with multiple service providers to ensure efficient project execution and adherence to standards. Additionally, you will work closely with local municipalities to obtain the necessary permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop outside plant telecommunications systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD and MicroStation for drafting and designing layouts of OSP infrastructure.
- Collaborate with project managers to create and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing conditions and gather data for design purposes.
- Work closely with construction teams to integrate structural considerations into designs
- Maintain accurate documentation of designs, changes, and project progress throughout the completion.
- Generate geo-referenced as-built drawings using GPS technology to accurately map assets such as manholes, hand holes, pedestals, building entrances, and infrastructure routes for both Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) installations.
- Create detailed technical drawings and layouts in alignment with project specifications and design requirements.
- Update and manage CAD files to reflect design changes, modifications, and field conditions.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles as they relate to telecommunications infrastructure.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, or other comparable design tools.
- Familiarity with aerial design and permitting processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent project scheduling skills to manage timelines efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outputs in all deliverables.
